DWELLING FIRE WITH RESCUE FOR .... "C/B" SHIFT

NOVEMBER 24th 2008 at 1547 Firebox 3-13 was struck for a Dwelling Fire, The address of 3620 Old Milford Mill Rd. While enroute dispatch advised units that police were on location reporting heavy smoke and people jumping from windows and also people were trapped. A Rescue assignment was added to the call and BC-2 (Lancaster) Requested an additional Engine and Medic.  Engine Company 3 arrived first due to find a 1 1/2 story woodframe dwelling with smoke showing. Engine 3 's crew was directed by the police dept to the "Charlie" side of the dwelling, where they found an elderly woman trapped in a rear bedroom and fire showing from a rear door.

Police and bystanders were in the process of trying to remove the trapped occupant but were having difficulty due to the pt's size and being disabled. Engine 3 crew, without the protection of a hoseline entered the structure through the rear door, making their way past the fire into the bedroom where the trapped occupant was located. As the crew made the bedroom the police and the bystander had just finished pulling trapped occupant to safety. Engine 3's crew then completed the stretch of the attack line and made an aggressive attack on the fire.  No additional occupants were found and the Pt was transported by Medic 3 to a local hospital for evaluation.  A Police Officer was also treated for minor injuries.  Units remained on the scene for approx 2 hours and the cause of the fire was ruled accidental from cooking.
